DRESSED IN WHITE

Today was a nice, slow morning. Trav and I got to sleep in, eat homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and now I get to blog. Ahh, I love Saturdays. What is your favorite thing about lazy mornings? Let me know in the comments. Hey, it's my first official blog post! I wanted to get started with a post that I'm going to categorize a #modtransformation. It's a mouthful, I know (haha).

If you are a bride-to-be, this post is especially for you. I got married about three months ago, and let me tell you, modest wedding gowns are hard to come by! Here in Utah there are a bunch of cute boutiques that sell temple-ready dresses, but shopping for a wedding dress in California is a totally different story! If you are looking for strapless, sheer, low-cut, or crazy colored dresses, California stores have them. They pretty much have everything except the modest dresses!

I got engaged while I was at school in Utah, so I had my mom scout out some good bridal shops in California that we could visit. She searched for a long time, and really only found one store that had modest styles-- David's Bridal. David's Bridal is all over the map, so that's a great thing for you brides who need a more modest gown!
When I came in for my appointment, I tried on about six dresses (I thought it was pretty cool that they had that many "modest-ish" dresses). The dress pictured at the left was by far my favorite! It had everything I wanted: beading, detailed lace, long-sleeves, and a dreamy, long train. The only thing that wasn't perfect about the dress was the modesty aspect. It was sooo close to being perfect! As you can see in the picture, it was VERY low cut in the front, had a deep v-shaped back, and also shorter sleeves than what I had wanted.

hello!

"Modesty is the highest elegance." -Coco Chanel

Hello! My name is Sydney, thanks for checking out my new blog! A little bit about me: I grew up in the Sacramento, California area and I now reside in Utah with my husband, Travis. We were married in Cali three months ago and we are loving our new adventure together. I'm starting this blog because I LOVE the art of fashion. But with the world's trends heading in a more revealing direction, it can be ridiculously difficult to find clothing that is both modest and cute. (Can I get an "amen"?)

Here on my blog, I hope to inspire you with weekly posts of modest fashion! Remember that being fashionable doesn't mean you need to reveal everything. ;) Every now and then I will also try to incorporate fun beauty tips, activity updates, and even new recipes (yum!). Lots to take in, huh? I'm excited to get started. Follow along for some blogging goodness.
