shop search: MikaRose

Good morning, and happy Saturday! This past week was awesome. I like to pick up temp jobs every now and then, and this week I worked as a floral designer! (Sounds like a dream job, right?) I couldn't believe I was getting PAID to arrange flowers creatively. It was great. :)

ANYWAYS, I had a lot of fun writing this Shop Search post for you guys. Just as a refresher, "Shop Search" posts are reviews on modest online boutiques (including info on modesty, style, price, quality of clothing, and location)!

The first shop in the spotlight is...*pause for dramatic effect*... MikaRose! This clothing store opened 10 years ago when the owners "realized how difficult it was to find modest dresses in today's market." I visited MikaRose's location a couple weeks ago and found this gorgeous (and modest) red floral dress. :) Let's dive right into today's Shop Search!>>

1. MODESTY

This place is GREAT when it comes to modesty. The dresses and skirts come down BELOW the knee, and all of their tops have at least a cap sleeve on them. I love that their clothes aren't sheer at all! I was a little hesitant to try on this dress because of the white fabric, but the fabric is pretty high quality so there was no sheerness in the slightest.

One of the great things about MikaRose is that they ONLY sell tankini's and one-piece swimsuits for summertime. The only downside I saw to MikaRose was that they do not offer jeans or shorts. That's a bit of a bummer considering how hard it is to find modest shorts, but I think their selection of clothing is pretty great since it is ALL modest!

2. STYLE
When it comes to style, this place is pretty up-to-date! On my visit, I saw a lot of bold florals, fun nautical stripes, sophisticated spring shades, and  vintage polka dot patterns. This store pretty much encapsulates my style (haha). I snapped a couple pics at the store so I could show you guys what their items actually look.

The goal of MikaRose is to "provide an extensive line of modest dresses, tops and skirts, without having to sacrifice style". With so many variables that come into play while shopping (i.e. size, price, etc.) it's so nice when you can find a store that has modesty AND style!

3. PRICE + QUALITY

So, here's everyone's next question: How expensive is it?

I would say that they have a bit of a range when it comes to price. You can get a dress for $25 or for $65, depending on the quality of the item.

Personally, I'm a cheap-o, so I usually go straight to the sales rack. Their sales do not disappoint! The red floral dress that I found was $30 originally, and on sale for $24. The fabric was soft, sturdy, and completely opaque (no sheerness), so even the on-sale items are nicer than your average clothing store! The clothing items that are priced higher typically have nicer fabrics or something like a built in underskirt.

4. LOCATION

If you live in Provo/Orem, good news for you! MikaRose has one location at the University Mall in Orem. Just as a side note- there is a section of the Brigham Young University bookstore that sells MikaRose clothing.

For the rest of us that don't live in Utah, also good news! MikaRose is ONLINE. They have a large selection of modest clothing to choose from on their website. Here is their URL: http://mikarose.com/

OVERALL, I think this modest boutique is awesome. If you've been to DownEast before, MikaRose kind of has the same vibe, except I think MikaRose's style is cuter and more up-to-date.

Thanks for reading this all the way to the end (haha)! Let me know if you have any store's you would like me to review, and I'll be SURE to check them out.

One last thing, I'm looking for some #trendsetters to feature on my next blog post! This weeks theme is SPRING, so get your best spring outfit together and send it over to modifiedmodest@gmail.com with a fun description of your style.

See you here next week,

-Sydney :)
